I've never used a pet sitter before. How do I get started?
Once you contact me, either by phone or by filling out the on line contact form, and are interested in my services, I will set up a "meet and greet" where I will meet you and your furry family members. This allows me to get to know you and your pets a bit before you leave. I will also answer any questions that you may have and go over all the details that will be needed, so that each visit will go as smoothly as possible.
Do you keep our pets in our home or yours?
I only keep your furry family members in your home. The reason you want to use my service is so it doesn't disrupt your pet's routines and mealtimes. They will stay right in their familiar surroundings, so there is no stress for you or your pets. I cater to my clients and their pets, so everyone is happy and well cared for.
What kinds of pets do you sit for?
I specialize in companion animals and horses. I do have experience with birds, reptiles, pocket pets,fish, and some exotics.
How many times a day do you visit my furry family member(s)?
I visit your pet(s) up to four times a day, depending on your specifications. Morning visits are between 5:30am-9:30am, mid-day visits are between 11:00am-1:30pm, afternoon visits are between 4:00pm-6:30pm and evening visits are between 8:00pm and 10:00pm.
Are you insured?
Yes, I am insured through Pet Sitters Associates, LLC and I am bonded through TRAVELERS Casualty and Surety Company of America.
Do my pets' vaccinations need to be current?
For my safety, your safety, and the safety of your pet(s), I ask that all required vaccinations be current.
Does my dog need to be on a leash for walks?
Yes. For liability reasons, your dog will NEVER be let off its' leash for any reason, except for any medical emergency that may occur. It is also a state law to have dogs under leash control when off the owner's property.
What if I'm unable to return home on time?
I know that the unexpected happens! If you find yourself in a situation where you cannot make it home by the time you specified, PLEASE, PLEASE call me! I want to make sure that your pets are taken care of and are not left alone. I will be happy to continue services until you arrive home.
Will you stay overnight?
I will consider overnight stays for special circumstances and emergencies. Slightly higher rates will apply. Please see the rate schedule.
Do I need to confirm my reservation?
I will give you a reminder call or email two to three days prior to your scheduled service. I do ask that you notify me of any changes to your schedule as soon as you are aware of them.
When and how do I pay?
After the "meet and greet", I ask that services be paid in full on or before the date of your scheduled service. At this time, I am only accepting cash and checks. In the near future, I will be accepting credit cards as well.
*I will be leaving a detailed invoice, as well as a daily diary and report card on your pet(s) activities and behavior while your were away.
Do you charge more for Holidays?
I do charge slightly more for holidays. Please see the rate schedule for more information.
Do you give discounts?
If you refer someone to The Pet Guardian and a booking has been made by that person, you will receive one free complimentary visit.
